Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

Total time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature

  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

  • 1 large egg, beaten

  • 3 tablespoons Turbinado sugar (or raw sugar)

  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to blend the cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

  3. Carefully unfold the puff pastry sheets and smooth out any creases with a rolling pin. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out 10 hearts from the pastry and place them on the prepared baking sheets.

  4. Take a smaller heart-shaped cookie cutter and gently press it into the center of each larger heart, creating an indentation without cutting through the pastry entirely.

  5. Spoon a dollop of the prepared cream cheese mixture onto each pastry heart, spreading it into a smaller heart shape, leaving a border around the edges.

  6. Arrange sliced strawberries on top of the cream cheese layer, distributing them evenly among the pastries.

  7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg and sprinkle Turbinado sugar over the top for a sweet, crunchy finish.

  8. Bake the pastries in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until they turn golden brown and puffy.

  9. Once baked, remove the pastries from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. Dust powdered sugar over the top for an elegant touch before serving.

Storage

  • Store any leftover pastries in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Allow them to come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and texture. These pastries are best enjoyed on the day they are made but can be kept for up to two days.

Celebrate Valentine's Day or any special occasion with these Strawberry Cream Danish Heart Pastries, a delicious way to share your love and appreciation with those who matter most.
