Ice is easy to overlook—until there isn't enough of it.
Busy summer months can put an ice program to the test, bringing undersized or aging equipment to the surface. For operators considering a replacement, renovation, or new kitchen, production capacity is important, but it isn't the only decision to make. The type of ice, how it will be dispensed, and where it will be stored all play a role in choosing the right equipment.
That's where Hoshizaki offers plenty of options.
Eight Types of Ice. One Hoshizaki.
Different applications call for different ice. Hoshizaki offers eight distinct types: Crescent, Flaked, Top Hat, Cubelet, Soft Cubelet, 1" x 1" Cube, 2" x 2" Cube, and Sphere.
Hoshizaki's signature Crescent is a hard, clear cube well suited for beverage service. Cubelet and Soft Cubelet provide the softer, chewable ice commonly used in applications such as healthcare, schools, and convenience stores. Flaked ice is soft and moldable, making it useful for applications such as food displays and blended beverages.
For cocktail and presentation-driven applications, Hoshizaki also offers Top Hat, 1" x 1", 2" x 2", and Sphere specialty ice.
The result is the ability to start with the application—not simply the ice machine—and select the ice style that makes sense for the operation.
Don't Forget About Dispensing and Storage
The ice machine is only one part of a complete ice solution.
Ice & Water Dispensers
Hoshizaki offers countertop dispensers and models that can be paired with optional stands. The lineup includes different production and storage capacities, as well as touch-free dispensing options for applications where self-service and sanitation are priorities.
Ice Storage Bins
For operations that need additional storage, Hoshizaki offers stainless steel exterior bins in a range of capacities and configurations. Models are available to accommodate different ice machine installations, and Hoshizaki's bins include an ice scoop.
Equipment Stands
Hoshizaki stands support compatible ice machines and dispensers while adding convenient cabinet storage below. Corrosion-resistant stainless steel exteriors, locking cabinet doors, and easy-to-clean surfaces make them a practical addition where accessibility and storage are needed.
Start With the Application
Selecting commercial ice equipment isn't just a matter of finding a machine with the right daily production number. Peak demand, ice type, available space, storage requirements, and how the ice will ultimately be served should all be considered.
If your existing equipment struggled to keep up during periods of high demand, or you have a new foodservice project in the works, it's a good time to take another look at the complete ice system
